Today we’re going all the way out to a little town in United Kingdom called Portsmouth, where we found one of the most epic Subaru’s ever! It belongs to William Burton, who happens to be a huge fan of ours! He has always had the lowest Impreza out there, but just recently he took things to a whole ‘nother level! As far as we know, he is one of the first, if not the first guy running 11″ wide wheels on an Impreza, but it doesn’t stop there, William and his friends just recently did a complete RWD swap!

William tells us that he had always wanted a Subaru, and when he first bought it his intentions were never to RWD it, he just wanted something rather “quick” and a car to go low with! Well he did just that and after he reached the ultimate limits of low (just millimeters off the ground and constantly popping cv’s) him and his friends jokingly mentioned a possible RWD swap. One thing led to another and they decided to go ahead with the swap! The stock running gear lasted about 2 weeks before it decided to blow up, however William didn’t waste any time, he was already on the grind looking around for something stronger. In the end, he opted for the RA Type R plated 180 diff, and newer STI shafts, as both of the stock RA’s blew just months after the swap.

One of the things William wanted us to point out was that there has been a lot of controversy about how beat up the car may look. The thing is though, this is his daily driver and its built for going sideways. We have yet to see a car this low(static) that’s driven in a country with some of the most messed up roads out there that still managed to be in excellent shape. He did tell us that his plan is to completely redo his fenders along with a fresh coat of paint when he is completely happy with his fitment. By the way, the front bumper usually has some kind of lip but they just don’t last very long.

Sitting Right:
F: Rota Grids | 18×9.5 (et06) w/235/35/18 | -1 Camber.
R: SSR Professor SP1’s | 18×11 (et16) w/ 255/35/18 | -3 Camber.
BC’s Coilovers, Shortened body w/140 mm springs
Spring rate: 14kg.mm Rear & 12kg.mm up Front.
StI JDM Strut Brace.

Not a whole lot has been done on the exterior, William simply de-badged the trunk and took off the factory spoiler for that clean look. Up front he also swapped the hood for one with no scoop, and added a set of EGR’ side skirts that in our opinion flow very well with rest of the car. Check out the rear end in these pictures below!

A few things were also added under the hood for those extra few horses when he is sliding this thing around. The intake was upgraded to an HKS one as well as the HKS SSQ BOV. He is also running a straight-through turbo back exhaust with no resonators and a re-mapped ProDrive. And lastly, William also replaced the IC with one from JapSpeed. There are other smaller things as well but William tells us they’re not worth mentioning.

Other than the STI Kevlar Recaro fixed bucket seats, OMP 70mm dished wheel and the awesome Kenwood Sat/Nav & Ipod head unit, the interior is kept pretty stock looking. You can check out a few more pictures of his car on our flickr by clicking “>this link. We would like to thank William for allowing us to share his awesome Subaru with all of our visitors, as well as James Ford for taking such sick shots!
