Rewind a few years back and imagine overhearing a conversation about the Toyota Prius. Terms like “economical”, “green”, and “gas efficient” would have been peppered in the dialogue. Never in a million years, did the US car scene think that Prius and majestic would have been used in the same descriptive sentence. However, after Jimmy Lee, did his own interpretation on the Toyota Prius, I was inspired by a whole lot of different words. Now you may recognize the name as Jimmy has a habit of flexing and ending up on the pages of StanceNation.com
This Prius started its life like a majority of others. Born from the decision of environmental awareness or economize gas, the Prius was initially a simple commuter car. However, all that changed when Jim realized the potential of the car in land of the Rising Sun. After that moment of realization, the Prius began to take its shape. Starting off with the Aimgain Hybrid III full body kit, complete with Wing and Wiper deletion, Jimmy chose to give the modest Prius a Lexus spindle grille look with the matching badge to top it all. An addition of a JP Rear Deck Wing Lip Spoiler completes the hind of the car while retrofitted projectors and OEM Eyelids give the Prius a sinister look.
Filling out this majestic Prius and its list of modifications is a beautiful set of Avant Garde F140, complete with red centercaps to match the theme, that measure in at 19×9 & 19×11 for the front and rears respectively. Air Runner’s SP Low Air Suspension kit mated with dual Viair compressors helps this Prius sit on the floor as well as navigate the many potholes and uneven pavement that plagues Southern California. Obviously such a wheel size could not fit on a stock Prius, so Jim called upon DTMAutobody, located in my native city of El Monte, to aid in the custom widening of the front fenders and rear quarters. Neochrome Muteki lugnuts act as a cherry on top to complete the package.
Jim’s passion for the car scene does not just stop at the vehicle he is modifying. It extends further to the community itself. So when the preconceived notion on the Prius was a laughable one, Jim decided to simply to change that view on the car. With this Prius, he shows the entire car game that this little Toyota hybrid could become a full fledged show winning contender. However, when one undertakes such a controversial project, hate and animosity as well as praise and support come as an indisputable package.
With a car of this caliber, the build hardly ends at the exterior. Jim outfits the interior of the Prius with the highest quality of modifications. Red dyed interior with double diamond stitching bring out a refined classy look. In such a build with the VIP scene as its inspiration, its only appropriate that Junction Produce lends its many luxury items like pillows, curtains, and tsuna. When we asked Jim what the hardest thing about this car was, I was surprised by his answer of “smooth with no serious challenges just time consuming on waiting for parts”. In the car community, builds like that are far and few, almost like a fully stanced Prius, but what do we know, Jim just makes it look easy.
Jim tells us that the next mods that are destined for his Prius is going to be in car entertainment, because there is no point in looking good if you aren’t enjoying it.
