Blood Moon. An adequate term to describe this car as there was plenty of media hype about the significant astrological happening recently. It was described as a rarity, some centuries receive a few “blood moons” and others have none at all. This car embodies that same description as all the wild and unique characteristics that had came together to make this such a beautiful sight to behold. Although the Nissan 240SX can take many different forms due to the staggering amounts of aftermarket and OEM parts as well as a market and industry behind it, Cassandra of Bellevue, Washington brings us her very own astounding interpretation on the classic Nissan 240SX.
Let’s start off with Cassandra’s favorite thing about the car. The Silvia front end. Definitely different from the conventional pop up headlights found on hatches, the Silvia is a reserved beauty in itself. Coupled with the V-Speed Aero Bumper that sits on the floor thanks to the Stance GR coilovers and SPL tension rods, the low slung and clean horizon of the bumper and hood combo give the car a staring look. Don’t stare too long though, because this car wont blink.
Other various suspension parts aid this car in getting low. Megan toe arms and traction arms coupled with Godspeed’s camber arms dial the suspension specs to the perfect setting for this car to sit. Z32 front and rear brakes come interchangeable from the Nissan 300zx and lend their stopping ability because this car is not all about show. Sitting underneath the hood is a RB25DET, a different choice than the usual SR.
The next thing that snags my eyes are the era-appropriate BBS RS. Coming in at a 17×10.5 -5 and 17×11 -15, they were not originally this wide. Cassandra managed to find a set of these cheaper than her old set of XXRs! She pulled them apart and made a quick visit to the shop. Fast forward, and little while later these beauties came into existence. Although fitment was one of the hardest things, the fully polished lips, faces, and centers, sit nicely under the massaged fenders which have been rolled and pulled at all corners. I just have to say it, “Oh, my, god. Becky, look at her butt.”
A quick glance at the interior shows a bunch of unique tasteful mods. A Momo Steering wheel mated to a NRG quick release are Cassandra’s controls and a Bride/Takata seat and harness combo keep her safe and secure through whatever a teenager in a 240sx does. Reupholstered interior panels allow her to add her own touch to the inside of the car.
In regards to the future, Cassandra tells us that she is aiming to upgrade the engine even further. However, she reminds us this car is not just about upgrades. From her own words, “people often forget what they’re committing to when modifying a 24 year old car.” This is proven as she even had a broken oil pan prior to the shoot with our beloved photographer Kee May. Good thing she scrambled and found a replacement for this work is surely magical. Both Cassandra’s car and Kee’s skills come together to create the perfect situation, a perfect blood moon.
