Mazda Miata’s have always had a soft spot in all of our hearts. Even though many people think it’s a chicks car, there is still something about it that gets us when we see these things dumped on the ground. Now, when you take it to another level and cage it up, slam it six feet under, and throw in a Jackson Racing Supercharger in it, you instantly get drawn to it. This Miata belongs to Derek Wise, who resides all the way in Atlanta, Georgia, and he doesn’t only slide this thing around the track, it gets sideways on those quite lonely nights on the streets of ATL. Track is fun, people paying to see you go sideways is a great feeling, but hanging out with your buddies and sliding on the streets on the outskirts of town is pure joy all the way through your spine. Truly an inexpressible feeling.

Derek tells us that he has owned 240’s before, and he still has more blast in his Miata. The car wasn’t built to anyone’s standards, Derek and his friends built it to do nothing but drift. The cage you’re looking at is a Harddog street roll cage, and the bright red seat is Bride low max with the RCI platinum harness. For his steering wheel, Derek went with the almighty Nardi 330 wheel to complete the interior.
Nothing too crazy for the wheel setup, but still manages to look pretty aggressive with the 0 offset. Thanks to BC Racing Coilovers, Derek was able to slam the car to where it’s able to look pretty darn low but still be able to function, and function well when he needed to.

Up front you’re looking at the Garage Vary front lip, which as you can see kisses the ground from time to time, and out in the rear, a small Autokonexion trunk spoiler was added.
To give it the power to go sideways and do well, Derek and his friends at Prime Auto did a full 1.8 motor and harness swap, along with a jackson racing m45 supercharger, and Jackson racing water to air intercooler. It’s currently running about 10lbs of boost on a lightweight pulley. As if that wasn’t enough, Megan racing 4 into 1 headers, Jackson racing highflow cats, and Silverline exhaust were added, which sound great might we add. Expect to see Derek at any show/meet or a drift event in Georgia or any nearby state, and make sure you say what up when you see him or his car! Tell him you saw him on Stance:Nation and he’ll maybe give you a ride, you never know!

As always, much respect to all the owners of the rides we feature, but more importantly our photographers for taking the times out of their schedules to shoot these great rides. Big thanks to Nick Rico for this shoot, he did a great job! Make sure you check out his flickr for a few more pictures.
