Ever since I bought my own Lexus LS400 three years ago, I’ve found myself diving further and further into the VIP culture. I’ve known about the VIP culture in Japan since the early 2000s and have always seen the appeal to taking big-body, Japanese sedans and putting them on the ground. VIP is all about finding the perfect balance of elegance while still maintaining a tough appearance, keeping things subtle while still pushing the limits. K’s BPA is responsible for this mind-blowing Celsior. If you think you’ve seen it all, well stick around because this car is mental.
I think a lot of people have the misconception that the VIP-style is just taking a sedan, dropping it on the ground, putting some deep-dish wheels on, and adding a body kit. While some of the cars don’t look like they have much done, it couldn’t be further from the truth. The body kits, if not complete custom one-offs, are all modified extensively, custom lighting solutions, the amount of suspension work is staggering, the builds are way more than what can be seen. This Celsior built by K’s BPA is no different. The work is done to a level that looks so simple, but the work done to this car really pushes the envelope when it comes to VIP. Cars don’t get much more tough and aggressive than this one.
We’ll start with the exterior of the car as that’s where the tough appearance is centered around. The front bumper, side-skirts, and rear bumper are Aimgain JUN-VIP that have all been worked over to give it the K’s BPA touch, but I’m sure the custom touches were largely due to the fender work. The fender work is definitely something you can’t ignore, radiused, flared, and sculpted to perfection out of metal. The fender work that goes on in Japan really is crazy, and this Celsior is a perfect example of the clean, yet ridiculous work that goes on. Another exterior highlight is the carbon roof which is a nice touch that compliments the blue metallic paint, and the black details of the grille, wheels, and lights. The last feature I wrote, I talked about the custom lighting that has been popular in the VIP culture lately, and this car features a few custom lighting touches as well. The headlights have been customized with LS460 projectors, matte black paint, and LED signal lights. Out back are custom, smoked LED tail lights. The exterior of the K’s BPA Celsior has that balance of elegance and aggressiveness. With the subtle paint and classy bodywork, the monstrous fenders lead you on to believe that there is something special yet to be found in this car.
The real treat for this car is definitely the stance. I’m a big fan on Oni-Kyan, or Demon Camber. The way the car looks sitting still, or rolling down the highway with the wheels tilted in just really does it for me. Not only does this Celsior rock some healthy negative camber, but the car is centimeters off the ground. “I bet he just airs up when drives,” I can hear people saying it now, but to everyone who thinks this car is bagged, well you’re all very wrong. This car is sitting static on coilovers. Even though I enjoy an impressive air setup, there’s just something about a car rolling super-low static that makes me smile. Maybe it’s because I do it with my own LS400 too and know the work involved to get a car to sit this low static. Like I said though, don’t take it the wrong way and think I’m knocking air, because I show just as much appreciation to air setups that can set the car on the ground and roll around low too.
The K’s BPA Celsior is sitting on a set of T-Demand coilovers which seem to be the popular choice for those in the VIP culture that like to roll ridiculously low static. Of course there are some super, stiff spring-rates involved here as well. Forget your 18kg or 25kg spring-rates here, those were deemed too soft. The spring-rates for this Celsior come in at a staggering 60kg in the front and 30kg in the rear. Those are some of the highest spring-rates I have ever heard of, but they are necessary for how low this car is. If you’re still not convinced of this cars lowness, just take a look in the trunk. You won’t find any fancy stereo equipment this time, instead you’re greeted with the gas tank. That’s right, the team at K’s BPA relocated the gas tank to the trunk so they didn’t have to worry about scraping it as they drove. This is a whole new level of craziness!
To keep with the car’s aggressive nature, K’s BPA looked to SSR wheels for a solution. The SSR Professor SP1 is a classic wheel that definitely combines both elegance and toughness with it’s multi-piece, deep-dish, 5-spoke design. With the centers finished in matte black to match the grille and lights, and the lips glistening after a high-polish, I couldn’t think of a more fitting wheel for the car. Sized up at 18×10 -19 in the front, and 18×12 -32 in the rear this Celsior doubles as a steam-roller when it drives on the Japanese roads. Sitting behind the SSR wheels is an Endless 6-piston and 4-piston big-brake kit which fill out the wheels nicely. It’s always nice to see some big-brakes behind a big set of wheels. All part of that balance.
We’ve really been on a roll here with some quality, VIP content from Japan here on S:N, and it’s not over yet. Seriously, a big thanks to all of our photographers out there that help us bring you this content, and of course our supporters there, and in the rest of the world! We’ve featured some pretty crazy VIP cars, and this one is certainly up there with the best of them. I almost want to say, this might be the lowest of them all! This car is just mental, and hard not to appreciate. From the crazy body work, to the very serious suspension setup, and the fuel tank relocation, this is one Celsior that no one will forget. Remember to clock the spec list for all the little details, and as always please leave a comment below. Stay tuned. We aren’t finished yet!
